SCAD Rising Star courses
SCAD Rising Star students participate in two 5-quarter credit hr courses taught by SCAD faculty. Past successfully completing these courses, participants earn college credits toward a SCAD degree or may transfer credits to other accepting institutions.

Grade choice
Upon credence to SCAD Rising Star, students are asked to indicate their preference of courses. Students are placed in courses based upon receipt of the $250 program fee and space availability. Placement in the pupil's summit selections is not guaranteed.
Courses may include demonstrations, lectures, studio work, and local field trips. Students besides have admission to the university'due south all-encompassing resources, from cutting-edge studios to vast libraries.

Credit/evaluation
Upon successful completion of the plan, each student earns x quarter hours of college credit that may be practical toward a bachelor's caste at SCAD or another higher or university. Course credits are applied to caste requirements at the discretion of the accepting establishment. Professors evaluate academic performance and creative progress at the conclusion of the program.
Supplies
SCAD Rising Star students are responsible for purchasing their ain course supplies. Supply expenses vary by course. A list of supplies is provided with each student's specific form schedule and supplies may exist purchased at the SCAD bookstore upon arrival in Atlanta or Savannah. Photography students must possess a digital photographic camera, with a minimum vi.1-megapixel capability. Students should not purchase supplies for any class until they have been admitted to the program and receive their course schedule, as classes are filled on a first-come up, first-served basis upon payment of the program fee.
Enrollment after SCAD Rising Star
In response to SAT and Deed testing sites closing across the country due to the COVID-19 pandemic, SCAD will waive the Sat/Act examination requirement for access consideration through Fall 2022.The university will now exist test-optional, meaning students may choose to submit examination scores if available, but applications from students without exam scores will also be considered. The lack of test scores will not touch on the academy's evaluation of a student'southward application or scholarship consideration.
Students who participate in SCAD Ascension Star will gain valuable experience, as well as build and enhance their portfolio, all while refining their skills under the guidance and instruction of SCAD faculty. Satisfactory completion of SCAD Rising Star with a cumulative course-signal average of 3.0 or higher may qualify students for admission to SCAD for further undergraduate study if they have submitted all required first-fourth dimension freshman application materials (including standardized test scores in the grade of an official Saturday or ACT written report for U.S. citizens).
These students too may be invited to continue their SCAD Rising Star experience as SCAD joint enrollment students. Through joint enrollment, students have one or multiple online courses each quarter with other freshmen; eligible students may earn upward to 25 quarter hours of credit. Students who wish to exist considered for early admission should contact the access department.
